Thammasat University hosted the “ONE TU for Bangkok PRIDE 2026” activity to welcome Pride Month, a significant festival for individuals with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities held annually every June, aiming to promote equality and equity for all genders.

On 31 May 2026, the Division of Quality Development and Sustainability (Thammasat for SDGs) at Thammasat University invited everyone to become a part of making history. By opening up a creative space, they established the “ONE TU for Bangkok PRIDE 2026” parade, marching from Silom Road to Thephasadin Stadium, Bangkok. This reflected the solid collaboration and solidarity of the Thammasat community and civil society networks, amplifying the voice of change to be louder than ever.

Weaving the Power of Networks: When Every Voice Merges into “ONE TU”

This year’s ONE TU parade phenomenon was made possible through the collaboration of student clubs and independent student groups sharing the same ideology. The initiative was led by the Faculty of Learning Sciences and Education , the Master’s Degree Programme in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSSP) under the College of Interdisciplinary, the Thammasat University Student Union (TUSU), and the Thammasat University Student Council. Furthermore, various independent activity groups working intensively on human rights and gender equality also participated, including the Singhadang Feminists’ Club (Faculty of Political Science), the Thammasat Law School Feminist Club, the Feminist for Friends Club, and the Amnesty TULP Club.

The parade was further enlivened and enhanced with creativity by the Recreational Creative Association of Thammasat University (RCATU), the TULP Colorguard, with historic moments captured by the TU Photo Club. It was also bolstered by support from next-generation networks like theYoung Thai for Sustainable Development Association (YSDA) Thailand, alongside student peers from various faculties, alumni, and members of the public who walked warmly side by side, filled with colour and pride along the parade route from Silom Road to Thephasadin Stadium.

Special Activities Reflecting the DEE Concept

Bangkok PRIDE 2026 was organised under the theme “PATCH THE WORLD WITH PRIDE”, featuring six parades with six distinct concepts: Green – PATCH OF HARMONY (Parade of Balance), Blue – PATCH OF UNITY (Parade of Peace), Purple – PATCH OF IDENTITY (Parade of Identity), Red – PATCH OF LOVE (Parade of Love), Yellow – PATCH OF SPIRIT (Parade of Art and Faith), and Orange – PATCH OF DIGNITY (Parade of Dignity). Thammasat University joined the Blue parade to pass on the power of acceptance, respect for differences, and equal coexistence.

The ONE TU parade created special activities that concretely reflected the DEE (Diversity, Equality, and Empathy) concept. By opening up an unconditional space, it invited “members of the public and international tourists” attending the event to share their feelings and messages for the Pride festival on a large piece of raw canvas under the topic “ฉันขอพูดเลยว่า! / I have to say…”. These messages served as a voice to reclaim safe spaces and demand that social systems and structures treat everyone in accordance with their individual needs, rather than just accepting external appearances. This is because equality is not a privilege to be begged for, but a fundamental right that every human being deserves.

Thammasat University, through the Division of Quality Development and Sustainability, along with all network partners and the Thammasat community, continues to fulfil its role in promoting Diversity and creating Equality. The goal is to move towards a world embraced by Empathy, serving as a safe space, a voice, and a driving force to push Thai society beyond all biases, ensuring that no one is left behind (Inclusivity) anymore.
