Electric Shuttle Buses Service at Thammasat University – Rangsit Campus

As one of the services provided for students and staffs who live on-campus and around campus area, Thammasat University provides free shuttle bus connecting from dormitory areas to the University’s buildings, food courts, and Thammasat Hospital since 2005.  The 10 buses, then, were still using diesel fuel.  In 2010, the University has increased the number of buses to 20 buses and converted them into NGV to comply with the “green university” policy as the first steps toward reducing the carbon emissions.

Thammasat University has a plan to change all 20 shuttle buses serviced in Rangsit Campus from Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) to be Electric Bus in 2021.  80% of these shuttle buses are now completely migrated to electric buses. The University will also provide electric vehicle charging station where the electricity will come from both solar cell and electricity grid. The goal is to convert 100% of shuttle buses to service students and staffs on and off-campus to electric buses by 2022.

Motorcycle is another mean of a more convenient and fast transportation.  The University has partnered with Star 8 (Thailand), Co.Ltd. to provide electric motorcycles for students and staffs to use within the campus as the alternative “low-carbon” mode of transportation.  Electric Motorcycle is another initiative in helping to reduce the carbon emissions and promote the importance of clean energy at Thammasat University.
