Access to Free Mental Health Support for Students – Viva City Thammasat Counseling Center

As stress from studies and university life becomes more challenging for students. Starting in 2019, Thammasat University established “Viva City: TU Counseling Center” to provide free mental health care and support for all students who are suffering from psychological problems as well as actively promote good mental health and how to cope with crisis. The services are all FREE of charge which include medical examination, organizing various activities that help in enhancing skills in handling mental problems, psychiatrists, psychologists, student advisors, and career counselors.

1. Counseling Services – Free mental health support and services for students

For in-person counseling service, students can consult with a psychiatrist by appointment. Counseling in English is also available for international students in all campuses.

After-hours counseling services are available only on Monday to Thursday, and appointments are arranged based on assessments and referrals from services provided during official hours. Available Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (during official hours), except on public holidays.

2. Active Promotion of Good Mental Health through Group Activities

Activities are organized to promote and support the development of skills, techniques and understanding of mental well-being for students, such as stress management, building self-esteem, self-forgiveness, art & music therapy, baking and knowledge exchange groups. These activities provide a safe space for students to exchange ideas and aim to foster a culture of mental well-being among students by emphasizing the importance of mental health care, knowledge and accessibility. 3. Stress Testing Service with Biofeedback Tools

Available on Mondays and Thursdays after office hours. Appointments can be made here.

Mondays: Stress testing via chest or diaphragm breathing, conducted by Prof. Athichat Rojanahadsadin (Professor of Psychology, Faculty of Liberal Arts).

Thursdays: Stress testing via brainwaves or electroencephalogram (EEG), conducted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kaesorn Muijjin (Professor of Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, Faculty of Nursing).

4. On-site Psychiatric Medication Services at Viva City Center and Medication Pickup at the Community Pharmacy Practice (Osot Dome)

Available on Mondays and Wednesdays after office hours. Access is only available through referral from counseling services, except if you have previously received treatment at another hospital, and the psychiatrist has issued a referral letter for continued treatment. In this case, you can submit your information and attach a photo of the referral letter via

After submitting, wait for a callback from the staff to schedule an appointment with the psychiatrist. The waiting time for a callback may vary. If you want to know your position in the queue, you can inquire via Facebook chat.

5. Telephone Counseling Service (Call Center 02-026-2345, press 2)

Available Monday to Friday from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. On holidays, the service is available 24 hours. (One line is available per day, and you can call directly without prior appointment.)

6. Online Counseling Service (No Medication) – free of charge service

Viva City provides “Free Access” 24 hours counseling service through a call center. Viva City opens another avenue of support, offering counseling services for Thammasat students free of charge. This service is provided online through the platform Relationflip Registration Form. Students will have access to psychologists and psychiatrists through appointment bookings and consultations available 24 hours a day. (This service does not include medication.) The service opens to all Thammasat’s students, regardless of year student or campus.

Steps to Access the Relationflip Counseling Service:

  • Click on the link or scan the QR Code to access the system.
  • Enter your student ID, name, and surname to verify your information for service usage.
  • Fill in your email and set a password. Passwords must include:
    • 6-15 characters
    • At least 1 digit
    • At least 1 uppercase letter
    • At least 1 lowercase letter
  • Once confirmed, you can log in to the system to input your personal information and schedule appointments immediately. Relationflip will keep your data confidential in all cases, always adhering to professional ethics.

7. Mental Health Services Statistics

Since opened in 2019, there were 9,495 students who visited and used the services provided by the center. In year 2023, women represented 75.7% of the total visitors.

8. Thammasat Counseling and Psychological Services Center for Students (TCAPS Center)

TCAPS center is a psychological and counseling service center for Thammasat University students across all 4 campuses: Rangsit, Tha Prachan, Lampang, and Pattaya. The service is for students seeking mental health counseling.

Steps to receive TCAPS services:

1. Fill out the information via the Google Form link
2. Add TCAPS as a friend through the Line Official account @tcaps or click this link
3. Take a screenshot of the completed form and send it via Line Official, along with your full name through the chat.

Several group and individual activities were such as a psychological counseling group to cope with social anxiety, those who are struggling with social interactions, talking to people, or speaking in front of the class. The group will help students face challenges together, exchange experiences with peers and learn how to manage anxiety

  • Psychological counseling group is FREE of charge.

Thammasat Mobile Medical Unit at Si Saket Province (2019)

In 2019, Thammasat University Hospital organised its 12th Mobile Medical Unit project at Benyalak district, Si Saket Province. Objectives of this project were to provide medical, dental and health services to poor people; offer medical supply to Buddhist temples; and provide financial support to community hospitals in the area. Moreover, books, stationaries, sport equipments, and donated money were offered to students in local primary schools. From November 22 to 25, 2019, approximately 400 people received the medical and dental services.

Thammasat Field Hospital to fight COVID-19

Thammasat University hospital collaborated with the government and provided a field hospital with 308 beds to deal with COVID-19 pandemic in Thailand from late March until mid-May 2020.

According to the latest information on May 17 2020, the hospital received referred cases from Thammasat University Hospital, and other universities from March 26 to May 17, in total 38 cases. From all cases, 37 cases were treated and sent home and 1 transferred back to the Thammasat University Hospital.

This initiative indicates the intention of the university to improve health and well-being of Thai people in collaboration with national health institutions.
