Thammasat University provides scholarships for the underrepresented group of students in the rural areas, the low-income students whose family gross income less than 240,000 baht, who have excellent academic performance. In each academic year, up to 150 applicants are chosen to receive fully or partially-funded scholarships. The scholarship covers monthly expenses, uniform costs, dormitory fees, tuition fee, medical expenses, accident insurance, and books and stationery allowances.
Underrepresented Group Recruitment Programs:
Thammasat University continued to offer the admission programs specifically for two underrepresented groups, namely, (1) “White Elephant Program”, and “Area Based Program”: poor-but-well-performing students from rural areas and from Bangkok, and (2) “Deep South Program”: poor-but-well-performing students from three deep southern provinces. The admitted students were provided with full or partial scholarships.
The White Elephant Program provides 285 positions for rural poor students (from the 38 provinces) and 65 positions for urban poor students (from Bangkok). Fifty full scholarships and 100 partial scholarships are provided. For the Deep South Program, 9 positions with full scholarship are offered.
The students who would be eligible for this program must be from low income household (such as farming or wage laborer households, or low-level government staff), whose total annual income (income of parents and those who pay for educational expenditure) is no more than 240,000 baht/year (estimated 6,500 US Dollar)

The “Outstanding Talent in Sports” project recruits individuals who have a portfolio of outstanding performance in sports up to 60 applicants per academic year in 36 types of sports to have access to further education.
The “Citizen Volunteer Recruitment” project recruits individuals who participate in volunteer activities both inside and outside school up to 80 applicants per academic year, to encourage and provide the access to university education.
The “Area Based” program includes the “Central Region Excellent Students Promotion Program” (โครงการส่งเสริมนักเรียนเรียนดีภาคกลาง) which is a recruitment program focused on promoting the enrollment of academically excellent students from the central region. Recruitment activity included the announcement of the selection details in November 2023 for a capacity of 81 seats.
The Area Quota Program (โครงการโควตาพื้นที่) is an undergraduate admissions process designed to enroll students based on their connection to specific geographic areas (quotas).
Thammasat University recruits around 20 applicants a year for the “Students with Disabilities” program. The Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities (โครงการนักศึกษาพิการ) is aimed at providing financial assistance to students with disabilities who are financially underprivileged, specifically supporting their living expenses. The program allocated 18 scholarships, each valued at 55,000 Baht per year. Key activities included the disbursement of funds monthly over 11 months.
The recruitment for employees with disabilities (staffs and faculty) is also among one of the responsibilities of the Disability Support Service Center. Currently, there are 14 personnel with disabilities as technical officer, analysts, practitioner and educator, which accounts for 0.2% of the total employees.
