Thammasat University continues its commitment to narrowing educational inequality and widening access beyond the capital through the “Thammasat White Elephant” Scheme (Rural High-Achieving Students Admission Scheme) for the 2026 academic year. Applications are now open under TCAS Round 2 (Quota).
The scheme aims to identify and support academically capable students from provincial and disadvantaged backgrounds who face financial hardship, enabling them to access high-quality higher education on an equitable basis.
Target Areas: Focus on Provincial and Specific Urban Communities
The scheme is open to students currently in Year 13 (Mathayom 6) in the general academic stream. Target areas are defined to ensure outreach to the intended groups as follows:
- 51 provinces nationwide, covering remote and underserved areas across the North, North-East, Central, Eastern, and Southern regions.
- Designated areas in Bangkok, specifically for students residing in densely populated or low-income communities within the capital, to assist disadvantaged urban youth.
Scholarships for High-Achieving Students with Financial Need
To ease the financial burden on families and allow students to focus fully on their studies, the University has allocated a total of 150 scholarships, comprising:
- 50 full scholarships
- 100 partial scholarships
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following basic requirements:
- Annual household income (before expenses) not exceeding THB 360,000
- A cumulative GPA (GPAX) across five semesters (Mathayom 4 – Mathayom 6, Semester 1) of at least 2.50
- A valid TGAT score for the 2026 academic year
- Both the applicant and their parent/guardian must have been registered in the household registry within the designated area for at least one year
Participating Faculties
The scheme offers places across a wide range of disciplines in both science and arts streams, including the Faculties of Law, Commerce and Accountancy, Political Science, Economics, Social Administration, Liberal Arts, Journalism and Mass Communication, Science and Technology, Engineering, Nursing, Fine and Applied Arts, Public Health, Allied Health Sciences, and the College of Interdisciplinary Studies.
Application Period
Applications are open from 22 January – 12 February 2026 via the online system at www.tuadmissions.in.th. There is no application fee.
