Thammasat University Notification
RE: Policy on Environmental Management
As a guide toward becoming a sustainable university according to the SDG principles of the United Nations, Thammasat University hereby issues its policy on environmental management for a better environment and quality of life. Thammasat University requires environmental management as follows:
- (1) Manage efficient energy usage by using resources effectively, reducing the use of energy from fossil fuels, and encouraging the use of clean renewable energy.
- (2) Perform design and physical development while following sustainable building design principles. All new build developments will be required to achieve a minimum “Certified” rating from TREES (Thai’s Rating of Energy and Environmental Sustainability).
- (3) Maximize the usage of water resources, manage water resources effectively, and manage wastewater treatment to meet the standards for water reuse.
- (4) Manage green space and the maintenance system of large trees in the area of Thammasat University.
- (5) Manage solid waste by sorting waste, promoting, supporting, and campaigning optimal utilization of waste; as well as managing waste disposal systematically and up to standards.
- (6) Encourage, support, and campaign for the reduction of the use of plastics and single-use disposable waste.
- (7) Manage and develop transportation systems that are safe and environmentally friendly, reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, and use vehicles that are environmentally-friendly at the University.
- (8) Public procurement must take into account the counterparty and company that value the importance of sustainable environmental protection.
