RE: Policy on Pedestrian Safety

To serve as a guide towards becoming walkable and sustainable university according to the 13th Amendment to the Land Traffic Act B.E.2565 (2022) and the SDG goals of the United Nations and to encourage safety to all pedestrians on the campuses: Thammasat University hereby issues its policy on Pedestrian Safety as follows:

1. Principle of this policy manifests as ‘pedestrian safety and right of way are the participate responsibility’

2. Reducing pedestrian exposure to vehicular traffic by provide, install, and/or upgrade sidewalks, marked crossings, pedestrian refuge islands and raised medians, traffic and pedestrian signals, and other necessary constructions.

3. Improving visibility between motor vehicles and pedestrian by provide crossing enhancements, signals to alert motorists that pedestrians are crossing, lighting/crossing illumination, and eliminate obstruction by physical objects.

4. Improving pedestrian and motorist safety awareness and behavior by provide education and training, develop and/or enforce traffic law on all campuses.

5. Improving care for the injured pedestrians by organize both pre-hospital and inclusive trauma care systems.
