Solar Rooftop – An Enhancement Toward Higher Energy Efficiency

Thammasat University has several outstanding buildings that are recognized as the highly energy-efficient buildings that adhere to the building design principle for energy conservation, not only at the main campus at Rangsit, but also at Lampang Campus and have plans to upgrade other existing buildings to higher energy efficiency in the near future.

To effectively achieve the goals for the implementation of the renewable energy and alternative energy development (as planned for 2015-2036) as well as further reduce the electricity usage, the Lampang Campus has created a project to install the solar power generation system on the roof (Solar Rooftop) for buildings within the university. The total installed power is around 692.19 kilowatts, supported by the Energy Conservation Promotion Fund through the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE) under the project to promote alternative energy usage.

The upgrade of the buildings toward higher energy efficiency using Solar Rooftop is, not only helping to reduce the energy consumption around the campus, but also provide more stability and stable electricity during the power shortage.  Solar Rooftop is an excellent source of learning for renewable and/or alternate energy for students, staff, as well as the people in the community around the campus.
